In October 2022, Daria Bila presented her first book “Mr Pillow and the Stars” at the most important book event in the world — the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The Frankfurt Book Fair takes place every year in the city of Frankfurt am Main in Germany, and is an internationally significant social and cultural event. This year the organisers gathered more than 4000 participants from 95 countries in the world. Among them, a special place was taken by the Ukrainian national stand which had an area of about 100 square meters. The Ukrainian Book Institute and Goethe-Institut in Ukraine were the co-organisers of this event.
The author confessed that she saw the printed version of “Mr Pillow” for the first time the evening before the fair. It was an unforgettable miracle, especially given that the print shop where the book was made is located in Kharkiv. Due to the shelling and complex logistical challenges it seemed that Mr Pillow wouldn’t be able to get to Germany.
But Ukrainian specialists proved that they can work real miracles, once again.
